One Degree 15 Marina Club

This week I attended a special birthday celebration at the Rooftop Terrance of the exclusive One Degree 15 Marina Club in Sentosa. The club attempts to emulate a Monte Carlo vibe in Singapore, and from the rooftop terrace I was greeted with a pretty view of dozens of moored yachts.

The feeling of exclusivity begins before you arrive at the club. With a surcharge usually applying to cars entering Sentosa Cove, the Marina Club functions manager had issued guests with a formal Event Invite to show at the Sentosa gateway, allowing complimentary access into the area.

At the top floor of the club, the rooftop terrace is a long rectangular space. Although there are two sheltered seating areas, anyone planning an event here should check the weather report. That evening, we had a light sprinkling of rain, but luckily for the birthday boy, the weather held up. The outdoor venue can host 100 people cocktail-style, and for a sit-down dinner with twenty-five guests, there was plenty of space to enjoy the marina views.

We were served champagne and a mix of cold and hot canapes to start the evening, followed by a four course Western-style dinner. While the staff were very obliging, kitchen service was slightly below par as half of the guests were served their main course first, while the other half had to wait about 15-20 minutes before their mains were brought out.

The venue space had a lovely ambiance, partly due to the live jazz quartet, and felt very secluded. The only downsides were that with no breeze, it did get very warm during dinner, and the closest bathroom was two floors down.

With a gorgeous sunset overlooking the marina, overall, the Rooftop Terrace was a great venue to celebrate a special occasion with friends and family.

xx Amanda
